Christmas is staying a little longer at Coastal Creative Studios!
After an incredible response to this year’s holiday installations, we’re extending our Christmas sets to give Long Island photographers and families even more time to create holiday magic inside the studio.
But we also know that not every session happening this season is a Christmas session. That’s why we’ve intentionally designed this year’s studio layout so that Christmas can take over part of Coastal without taking over all of Coastal.
Whether you’re planning holiday photos, booking a regular family or branding session, or joining us for Santa Day, here’s everything you need to know about Christmas at Coastal Creative Studios this year.
Our Christmas Sets Have Been Extended
Our Floating Christmas and Midnight Christmas installations will remain available at Coastal for an extended season, giving photographers more opportunities to book holiday sessions without trying to squeeze an entire season into a few short weeks.
This year’s two sets were designed to give clients completely different looks within the same Long Island photography studio.
Floating Christmas is light, neutral and whimsical, with a timeless palette that works beautifully for families, couples and children.
Midnight Christmas offers a richer, moodier holiday look for photographers and clients who want something a little more dramatic and classic.
Photographers can rent the studio and photograph their own clients on the Christmas sets, while families looking for beautiful Long Island Christmas photos on their own terms can also bring in their own camera.
Santa Is Coming to Coastal on December 6
This year, we’re doing Santa a little differently.
On December 6 from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM, we’re welcoming families to Santa at Coastal: A Christmas Experience.
Instead of rushing children through a quick photo and sending them on their way, we wanted to create an experience that gives families a little more time to actually enjoy the magic of the season.
Each reservation includes 15 minutes with Santa, plus cookie decorating, hot chocolate and holiday crafts.
Families will also have access to our Christmas installations during their visit, so there will be plenty of opportunities to capture even more holiday memories.
And you have two options when it comes to photos.
Bring your own phone or camera and capture the experience yourself, or add professional photography by Janelle Brooke Photography and let Janelle document the magic while you stay in the moment.
If you’ve been searching for Santa photos on Long Island but want something that feels more like a Christmas outing than a traditional Santa mini session, this one’s for you.
Not Taking Christmas Photos? You Can Still Book Coastal.
This is probably the question we’ve received most from our photographers:
Can I still book the studio for a regular session while the Christmas sets are up?
YES!
We know November and December aren’t only about Christmas sessions. Our photographers still have newborns, branding sessions, headshots, family sessions, content days and other shoots on their calendars.
So this year, we’ve intentionally kept a portion of the studio completely Christmas-free and available for regular photography sessions throughout the holiday season.
Our Christmas installations occupy Main Room #1 and the front portion of the studio parallel to it. The remaining area, including Main Room #2 and the area surrounding the billiard table, remains available for regular sessions.
This gives photographers plenty of room to create without Christmas décor appearing in the background of every shot.
So if you’ve been hesitant to book a Long Island photo studio rental during Christmas season because your session has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas, you can still book Coastal.
But What If I Wanted to Use the Black Wall?
We’ve thought about that, too.
If you were planning a session specifically around our black wall and it isn’t accessible because of the Christmas installations, we can set up a black paper backdrop in the regular-session area to create a similar clean, dramatic look.
Just let us know what you’re envisioning when you book so our team can help you determine the best setup for your session.
Our paper backdrops are also a great option for branding photography, headshots, editorial portraits, product photography and content creation throughout the holiday season.

One of our biggest goals at Coastal has always been flexibility.
Christmas at the studio is something we look forward to every year, but we never want our seasonal installations to mean photographers lose access to the creative space they rely on for everything else.
